The park bond passes!

THANK YOU!
The Park Bond passes.

Thanks to you, your support, and mountains of grassroots efforts, the park bond (SB 5) was pulled over the finish line in a nail-biter vote late Friday night/early Saturday morning.

The park bond will now be placed on the June 2018 ballot for the voters to decide upon. At $4 billion, with $725 million for park starved communities, this will be the largest natural resources and conservation package, and the largest targeted investment in underserved communities, in the state’s history.

Also passed was funding for the Urban Greening Program as part of Cap and Trade expenditures.

A huge thank you also goes out to Senate pro Tem Kevin de León and Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia, who were real champions in the success of SB 5. The bill would simply not have moved forward without all of their efforts, as well as the entire Los Angeles delegation of Democrats who in the end all supported the bill. Please take a minute to reach out through social media, phone or email to let your legislator know how much their leadership on parks is appreciated. Social media graphics to use across platforms are below (click to download).

As we move forward into next steps, a campaign will be ramping up to ensure the Park Bond’s success in June. We’ll continue to need your help, so stay tuned for more.

Urgent! Your help needed today for park funding.

Save the Park Bond!
The Governor, Senate and Assembly have developed a final park bond package (SB 5). In order to get the park bond on the June 2018 ballot we need a 2/3 vote from the legislature. We expect the vote to happen on Thursday (tomorrow) or Friday.

We have a lot of work to do to get SB 5 through the Assembly, and leaders in the legislature have asked for our community to build up social media support. We need both broad and targeted pushes to local members. A target list of members is below, as well as sample tweets. We’ve also attached social media graphics to use on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (click on the images below to download).

Please make calls, send emails, and push these images and tweets out as soon as possible.
